Mazda CX-30 I (DM) (2019 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The Mazda CX-30 (DM generation) is a compact SUV positioned between the CX-3 (now withdrawn from many markets) and the CX-5. Based on the Mazda 3 (BP) platform, it inherits its excellent driving dynamics, premium finish, and powertrains. Designed to offer a more spacious alternative to the CX-3 without the bulk of the CX-5, it stands out with its very refined 'Kodo' design and luxurious cabin for its category. While it excels in driving pleasure and overall reliability (true to Mazda's reputation), it falls slightly short with average rear passenger space and a boot volume in the lower average for the segment. In 2024/2025, the European range was revamped with the introduction of a 140 hp 2.5 e-Skyactiv G engine replacing the older 2.0-liter units. Overall Note: An excellent choice for tho

🎯 Verdict

The Mazda CX-30 is one of the most reliable and rewarding compact SUVs to drive in its category. It targets customers looking for a premium alternative to German brands, with a distinctive design and naturally aspirated (or mild-hybrid) mechanics with proven reliability. We highly recommend the Skyactiv-G engines (2.0 or 2.5) for their unwavering robustness. The Skyactiv-X is an excellent technological choice but requires more rigorous maintenance. The diesel (1.8 Skyactiv-D) should be avoided except for very high-mileage extra-urban drivers. When buying used, check the bodywork condition (thin paint) and ensure that electronic recalls have been carried out.
