The Mazda CX-3 is an excellent used car choice, provided you exclusively target gasoline engines (Skyactiv-G). These naturally aspirated units are among the most reliable on the current market, offering rare peace of mind in a category often dominated by fragile small turbocharged 3-cylinder engines. The automatic gearbox (BVA6) is also a model of robustness. However, diesel versions (Skyactiv-D) are to be avoided, except for very high-mileage drivers primarily using highways, due to chronic problems related to the DPF and oil dilution. If you accept its modest boot and cramped rear seats, the gasoline CX-3 is a highly recommendable urban SUV.
