Lexus ES VII facelift (XZ10) (2021 – 2025)

Reliability score : 9.4/10

The seventh-generation Lexus ES (XZ10) received a facelift in mid-2021 for the 2022 model year. Based on the excellent TNGA-K platform (shared with the Toyota Camry), this large executive sedan embodies rational luxury. The facelift corrected the main flaw of phase 1 by replacing the unergonomic trackpad with a touchscreen moved closer to the driver, while also stiffening the rear axle and optimizing braking. Although Europe only gets the hybrid version (ES 300h), the rest of the world (North America, Asia, Middle East) benefits from 100% internal combustion (gasoline) engines of legendary reliability, ranging from the placid 4-cylinder to the noble naturally aspirated V6. It is one of the most reliable cars in the world in its class. Overall design rating: 9/10

🎯 Verdict

The Lexus ES (XZ10 facelift) is the archetype of the worry-free luxury sedan. If you live in a region where the gasoline versions (ES 250 and especially the ES 350 with its fabulous V6) are available, they represent an exceptionally safe purchase, capable of exceeding 300,000 km with simple routine maintenance. The 2021 facelift corrected the car's only real flaw by introducing a touchscreen. Although it offers no sporty pretensions (even in F-Sport trim), it excels in its field: transporting its occupants in cathedral-like silence, with regal comfort and absolute peace of mind. The few electronic recalls (cameras, sensors) are handled by the brand's highly reputable network.
