Presentation of the Lexus ES VII Facelift (XZ10) The seventh-generation Lexus ES (based on the TNGA-K platform) received a mid-cycle facelift in 2021. This update brought targeted improvements: increased rear axle rigidity, brake pedal recalibration, minor aesthetic tweaks (grille, headlights), and, most importantly, the advancement of the multimedia screen, which became a touchscreen. In 2023, the infotainment system was completely overhauled to abandon the much-criticized touchpad (Remote Touch) in favor of the new Lexus interface. ⚠️ IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION REGARDING DIESEL: Contrary to the initial request, the Lexus ES has NEVER been offered with a diesel engine, on any recent generation, let alone the XZ10. Lexus definitively abandoned diesel long before the release of this model, fav
Final verdict The facelifted Lexus ES VII (XZ10) is one of the most reliable sedans in the world. If you are looking for a diesel engine, you must look elsewhere, as Lexus made the radical (and visionary) choice of total hybridization in Europe. However, the ES 300h engine is an excellent replacement for diesel: it offers real-world highway fuel consumption around 6.0 L/100 km, and less than 5.0 L/100 km in the city, all with unmatched quietness of operation and an almost total absence of costly breakdowns (no DPF, no clogged EGR valve, no timing belt, no clutch, no conventional alternator). The 2021 facelift (and especially the 2023 multimedia update) corrected the model's main flaw: its obsolete infotainment. It is a highly recommended purchase for high-mileage drivers, taxis/ride-hailing services, and lovers of absolute comfort, provided you accept the lack of a folding rear bench seat and a size poorly suited to cramped underground parking lots.
