Kia Stonic I (YB) (2017 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.4/10

The Kia Stonic (YB generation) is a B-segment urban crossover, closely derived from the Kia Rio city car, from which it takes its platform and most of its powertrains. Launched in 2017, it stands out for its dynamic design, numerous two-tone customization options, and rather agile road handling, albeit at the expense of suspension comfort (firm). In 2020, it received a facelift, bringing new driving aids, a modernized infotainment system (UVO Connect 8-inch), and especially the introduction of 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrains associated with an intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a dual-clutch transmission (DCT7). 🎯 Verdict

The Kia Stonic is an extremely rational choice in the used urban crossover market. While it doesn't shine with its suspension comfort or the quality of its interior plastics, it largely compensates with above-average mechanical reliability and a 7-year warranty that often still covers recent models. For purely urban use, the modest 1.2 MPI is indestructible. For more versatility, the 1.0 T-GDI 100 hp with a manual gearbox (or iMT) is the best compromise. The DCT7 dual-clutch gearbox should be avoided if you frequently encounter traffic jams, to prevent premature clutch wear costs.
