The fourth-generation Kia Sorento (MQ4) marks a major break from its predecessors. Based on the new N3 platform from the Hyundai-Kia group, it moves upmarket spectacularly with a refined finish, increased spaciousness (available in 5, 6, or 7 seats depending on the market), and a top-tier technological endowment. This is the first Sorento generation to introduce massive electrification with hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, which have become dominant in Europe. A significant refresh (Facelift) was carried out in late 2023 / early 2024, adopting the Opposites United design philosophy (front end inspired by the large EV9 electric SUV) and updating the infotainment system (ccNC). Overall, the Sorento MQ4 is a very accomplished family SUV, offering an excellent price/performance
The Kia Sorento IV (MQ4) is an extremely rational and accomplished choice for large families looking for a modern, spacious, and well-equipped SUV. In Europe, the 1.6 T-GDi HEV (Simple Hybrid) represents the best cost/use compromise, provided that the oil dilution phenomenon is monitored through regular oil changes. The 2.2 CRDi Diesel remains the undisputed master for high-mileage drivers and those who tow. In North America, favor the 2.5 naturally aspirated or hybrid, and be very cautious with used 2.5 T-GDi models (imperatively verify that the DCT gearbox recall has been performed). The 2024 facelift corrected minor electronic teething issues, making recent models very safe bets.
