The second-generation Kia Sorento (code name XM) marks a radical turning point for the model. The Kia Sorento II (XM) is an excellent used choice for large families or those who tow, provided you choose the 2.2 CRDi engine. This diesel block is a model of robustness if maintenance is followed. However, you must be extremely vigilant about the condition of the all-wheel drive (AWD) system, whose failures are frequent and costly. Opt for a 2-wheel drive (2WD) model if you don't need 4x4, you will avoid this risk. Absolutely avoid the 2.4 GDI gasoline versions (especially imports or in Canada/USA) due to their disastrous history of engine failures. A facelifted model (2013-2014) with the 2.2 CRDi 2WD is the best buy of this generation.
