Kia ProCeed II (JD) (2013 – 2018)

Reliability score : 8.6/10

The second-generation Kia pro_cee'd (code JD) is the 3-door coupé variant of the Cee'd compact hatchback. Designed in Europe and for Europe (Žilina factory in Slovakia), it stands out with a sloping roofline, a muscular rear, and a more dynamic positioning than the 5-door version. This generation marks a spectacular move upmarket for Kia in terms of finish, soundproofing, and equipment. It also inaugurated the brand's sports label with the pro_cee'd GT version (204 hp). A facelift occurred in late 2015, bringing slight aesthetic touches, the introduction of the 3-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI engine, and a 7DCT dual-clutch gearbox. It is an overall very reliable model, supported by the famous 7-year manufacturer's warranty.

🎯 Verdict

The Kia pro_cee'd (JD) is an excellent choice for those looking for the look of a sporty coupé without sacrificing reliability or maintenance budget. The engines are proven, especially the 1.6 CRDi for high-mileage drivers and the 1.4 MPI for city driving. The GT version (204 hp) is a very endearing and underrated 'warm hatch'. The main drawback remains the fragility of the LED daytime running lights, which must be checked before purchase. Opt for a manual gearbox if you do a lot of city driving, as the 7DCT is more at home on open roads.
