Reliability score : 8.8/10

The second-generation Kia Niro (codename SG2) marks a deliberate stylistic departure from its predecessor, adopting the 'Opposites United' design with its contrasting C-pillar (Aero C-Pillar). 🎯 Verdict

The Kia Niro II (SG2) is a pragmatic and highly recommendable choice. By building on the achievements of the first generation, Kia has corrected design flaws while maintaining formidable efficiency. The HEV (simple Hybrid) version is the master purchase: it offers the best price/performance/consumption compromise without the constraints of recharging. Mechanical reliability is excellent, with the 1.6 GDI Smartstream engine now perfectly reliable. The only complaints concern a few early electronic bugs (easily corrected at the dealership) and the quality of some interior plastics, which are below European standards. A vehicle to buy with confidence, provided that rigorous maintenance is followed to preserve the valuable 7-year warranty.
