The 4th generation KGM Korando (code name C300), initially launched under the SsangYong brand before the takeover and name change to KG Mobility (KGM) in 2023, marks a spectacular leap forward for the Korean manufacturer. Positioned in the highly competitive compact SUV segment (C-SUV), it abandons the divisive styling of its predecessors for a more consensual and European design. It stands out with generous interior space, abundant equipment right from the mid-range trims, and top-flight safety (5 stars Euro NCAP). While its badge lacks prestige compared to the market leaders, it compensates with a very aggressive price-to-features ratio. The 1.5 GDI-Turbo petrol engine, developed in-house, offers good drivability but suffers from higher-than-average fuel consumption for the category. Ove
The KGM (SsangYong) Korando C300 is the pragmatic choice par excellence. If you target the 1.5 GDI-Turbo petrol engine, you will benefit from a flexible, quiet, and overall very reliable engine, coupled with an excellent Aisin automatic gearbox. However, you must absolutely accept its main flaw: high fuel consumption, which makes it costly for high-mileage drivers. Buying it used is an excellent financial deal thanks to massive depreciation, but it should be considered a vehicle to keep until the end, as its subsequent resale may prove difficult. Favor a model with a clear history to take advantage of the remainder of the long manufacturer warranty.
