Jaguar XF II Facelift (X260) Initially launched in 2015, the second generation of the Jaguar XF (X260) received a major facelift at the end of 2020. While the exterior evolves subtly (new LED headlights, redesigned bumpers), the real revolution takes place inside: the dashboard is entirely new, incorporating much higher quality materials and the excellent Pivi Pro infotainment system with an 11.4-inch curved screen. Mechanically, Jaguar drastically simplified the lineup for this facelift. The V6 engines have disappeared, making way exclusively for 2.0-liter 4-cylinder blocks from the Ingenium family. The big news for high-mileage drivers is the introduction of the D200 diesel engine, which features 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) technology to lower fuel consumption and emissions. Although shunned
Final verdict The facelifted Jaguar XF (2020-2024) is a fantastic sedan for those who love to drive. Its chassis is a delight and its interior, finally worthy of its badge thanks to the Pivi Pro system, makes it a very pleasant place to be. However, the choice of engine is critical. The D200 MHEV diesel, although economical and torquey, inherits the temperamental Ingenium architecture. It tolerates neither short trips (FAP/EGR clogging) nor overly long oil change intervals (oil dilution fatal to the timing chain). If you drive less than 25,000 km per year or drive in the city, avoid the diesel and look towards the P250 or P300 petrol versions, which are significantly more serene in terms of reliability. On the used market, the XF's steep depreciation makes it an excellent financial deal, provided you buy a model with a crystal-clear history.
