Jaguar XE I (X760) (2015 – 2019)

Reliability score : 6.8/10

The first-generation Jaguar XE (X760) (phase 1) was launched to compete with the German benchmarks in the D-segment (BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class). Based on the iQ[Al] platform made of 75% aluminum, it stands out for its exceptional road handling, precise steering, and sharp front axle (double wishbone). While its dynamic qualities are undeniable, it suffers from cramped rear passenger space, average trunk volume, and an aging infotainment system (InControl) prone to bugs on the early model years. Mechanically, the 2015-2019 period marks the transition between Ford-sourced gasoline engines (EcoBoost) and Jaguar Land Rover's new modular "Ingenium" engine family. Overall rating: 7/10 (Gasoline) / 4/10 (Diesel).

🎯 Verdict

The Jaguar XE is a sedan with character, designed for driving enthusiasts. Its chassis is one of the best in its class. However, buying it used requires great caution. You must avoid the diesel engines (2.0d Ingenium), whose timing chain and oil dilution problems are ruinous. On the other hand, the gasoline versions (our target) are much more recommendable. The 2.0t (whether Ford or Ingenium sourced) offers a good compromise, while the 3.0L V6 is a future collector's item, provided its cooling system is preventively made reliable. Buy a gasoline model with a flawless maintenance history and be prepared to forgive mediocre rear passenger space in favor of driving pleasure.
