The facelifted Jaguar E-PACE (X540 generation, introduced in late 2020 for the 2021 model year) marks a major technical evolution compared to the first phase. Although the exterior design evolves subtly, the vehicle adopts Jaguar Land Rover's new PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture) platform, shared with the Range Rover Evoque. This more rigid architecture allows the integration of mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The interior takes a qualitative leap forward with the integration of the excellent Pivi Pro infotainment system. However, the main flaw of the E-PACE remains: excessive weight (often over 1.8 tons, or even 2.1 tons in PHEV), which penalizes fuel consumption, driving dynamics, and accelerates the wear of the running gear. Overall rating: 6.5/10.
The facelifted Jaguar E-PACE (2021+) corrects the main early flaws of the first phase, notably thanks to a modernized interior (Pivi Pro) and a stiffened platform. The petrol engine (P200 or P250) is the safest and most logical choice for this model, avoiding the heavy fouling problems of the Ingenium diesels. However, one must accept high fuel consumption, a direct consequence of an unreasonable weight for the category. This excess weight also implies increased vigilance regarding the wear of the brakes and running gear. Purchase is recommended only if the maintenance history is flawless and if the recalls (especially on the turbo and airbags) have been carried out.
