Hyundai ix35 I (LM) (2010 – 2013)

Reliability score : 8.1/10

The Hyundai ix35 (LM generation) marks a major turning point for the Korean manufacturer in Europe. Replacing the Tucson (although it retains this name in other markets such as North America), it introduces the 'Fluidic Sculpture' design, offering much more dynamic and modern lines. Sharing its platform with the Kia Sportage (SL), the ix35 has established itself thanks to an excellent price/equipment ratio and its famous 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. On the used market, the diesel versions (CRDi) are the most widespread in Europe and enjoy an excellent reputation for mechanical robustness, despite some weaknesses in the peripherals and interior finishes. Overall rating: 7.5/10.

🎯 Verdict

The Hyundai ix35 (2010-2013) is a very rational and safe choice on the used market, provided you favor the CRDi diesel engines. The 2.0 CRDi block (136 or 184 hp) is particularly recommendable for its foolproof robustness, capable of handling high mileages without flinching if routine maintenance is respected. The 1.7 CRDi is a good economical compromise, but requires vigilance regarding the clutch. The interior ages moderately (scratched plastics, peeling steering wheel), but the mechanics largely compensate for these cosmetic flaws. Make absolutely sure that the critical recall concerning the ABS module has been carried out to rule out any risk of a short circuit.
