The fourth-generation Honda Pilot (code YF4), introduced in late 2022 for the 2023 model year, marks a major technical and stylistic evolution for Honda's large 3-row family SUV. It abandons the curves of the previous generation for a squarer and more robust design, particularly highlighted by the new off-road-oriented "TrailSport" trim. Technically, it rests on a new, more rigid architecture and introduces an all-new 3.5L V6 double overhead camshaft (DOHC) engine, coupled with an excellent 10-speed automatic gearbox designed in-house by Honda. This new transmission definitively corrects the jerking problems known on the old 9-speed ZF gearbox of previous generations. Although it does not offer a hybrid powertrain in the face of fierce competition, it establishes itself as a benchmark in t
The 4th generation Honda Pilot (YF4) is an extremely solid choice for families looking for a large, spacious, and durable SUV. Honda made the wise decision to keep a naturally aspirated V6 while modernizing it (DOHC) and, above all, pairing it with an excellent in-house 10-speed automatic gearbox that erases the flaws of the old ZF transmission. Although the model has suffered a notable number of early recalls (typical of the first years of production of a new platform), these defects mainly concern peripherals or assemblies covered under warranty, and not the mechanical heart of the vehicle. If fuel consumption is not your main criterion (compared to Toyota's hybrids), it is a highly recommended purchase, provided you ensure that all manufacturer recalls have been performed.
