Honda Odyssey V (RL6) (2018 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The fifth-generation Honda Odyssey (factory code RL6) is a minivan designed specifically for the North American and Middle Eastern markets. Expert note: It should not be confused with the Odyssey sold in Japan and Asia (RC generation), which is a smaller vehicle. Launched for the 2018 model year, this RL6 generation stands out by abandoning alternative powertrains in favor of a single, highly robust naturally aspirated V6. Faced with an electrifying competition (Toyota Sienna hybrid, Chrysler Pacifica PHEV), the Odyssey plays the card of proven mechanical reliability, ease of maintenance, and driving pleasure. According to data from Consumer Reports and J.D. Power, it regularly establishes itself as the most reliable minivan in its segment over the long term. A slight facelift was carried

🎯 Verdict

The Honda Odyssey (RL6) is undoubtedly one of the most reliable family vehicles on the North American market. Its J35Y6 V6 engine is a true institution of reliability, offering peace of mind that the complex hybrid powertrains of the competition sometimes struggle to match over the very long term (beyond 10 years). Buying advice: Strongly favor models from 2020 onwards. They benefit as standard from the excellent 10-speed automatic gearbox (which erases the inconveniences of the 9-speed gearbox of the 2018-2019 models) and have corrected the early defects related to the sliding doors and the infotainment system. Ensure that the recalls concerning the MOST network (screen) and the fuel pump have been performed. If maintenance is followed (especially the timing belt at 160,000 km), it is a vehicle capable of easily exceeding 300,000 km without a major breakdown.
