Honda Civic XI (FL) (2021 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The 11th generation Honda Civic (chassis codes FE for the sedan, FL for the hatchback version) marks a return to stylistic sobriety after a very divisive 10th generation. Positioned as a C-segment compact (although its dimensions bring it closer to the D-segment at 4.55 m long), it moves upmarket with a refined interior, better quality materials, and acclaimed ergonomics (return of physical controls for air conditioning). In Europe, it makes the radical choice of being offered only with a hybrid powertrain (e:HEV) or in an ultra-sporty version (Type R). In other markets, it retains conventional internal combustion engines. Its chassis is unanimously recognized as one of the best in its category, offering a perfect compromise between comfort and dynamism. Overall design rating: Excellent.

🎯 Verdict

The 11th generation Honda Civic is one of the best compact cars on the global market. It corrects the stylistic eccentricities of its predecessor while enhancing its road qualities. In Europe, the e:HEV powertrain is an engineering masterpiece, offering diesel-like fuel consumption with the refinement of a large displacement gasoline engine. In North America, the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine is an indestructible sensible choice, while the 1.5 Turbo offers an excellent compromise. The only real drawback of this generation is the steering issue (Sticky Steering) on early model years: it is imperative to check if the targeted vehicle has been corrected under warranty. Once this point is ruled out, it is a highly recommended purchase that will retain excellent resale value.
