Honda Accord IX (CR) (2012 – 2017)

Reliability score : 8.6/10

The 9th generation Honda Accord (CR chassis) marks a major turning point for the model. Unlike the 8th generation, which offered distinct versions for Europe and North America, this 9th iteration was globalized, but withdrawn from the Western European market due to declining sales of family sedans. It achieved immense success in North America, Asia, Russia, and the Middle East. More compact externally than its North American predecessor but more spacious inside, it introduced the Earth Dreams engine family (direct injection, CVT) and highly developed hybrid versions. The 2016 facelift brought increased rigidity, revised suspension, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and the Honda Sensing safety package.

🎯 Verdict

The 9th generation Honda Accord is one of the most reliable and well-rounded mid-size sedans of its decade. If you reside in North America, the Middle East, or are importing a vehicle, it's an excellent choice. The 2016 and 2017 (facelifted) models are the most recommendable: they correct early issues (VTC actuator, multimedia system) and integrate modern technologies like Apple CarPlay. The 2.4L engine coupled with the CVT offers the best daily compromise, while the V6 will delight those who appreciate American-style smoothness, albeit with more rigorous maintenance.
