GMC Sierra 1500 4th gen (T1XX) (2019 – 2025)

Reliability score : 7.4/10

The 4th generation GMC Sierra 1500 (T1XX) is the technical and luxurious cousin of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Positioned in the premium full-size pickup segment, it stands out with its statutory design, its multifunction tailgate (MultiPro Tailgate), and its high-end trims, notably the highly sought-after Denali version. 🎯 Verdict

The GMC Sierra 1500 (T1XX) is an extremely competent pickup, particularly desirable in its facelifted versions (2022+) which finally offer an interior worthy of its price. However, the choice of engine is crucial. The 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, although very pleasant, suffer from a documented design flaw in the cylinder deactivation system (lifters), which represents a major financial risk out of warranty. The recent recall on the 6.2L further darkens the picture for the V8s. The best choice is undoubtedly the 3.0L Duramax diesel, which offers remarkable reliability, perfect torque for towing, and surprisingly low fuel consumption. The 2.7L Turbo 4-cylinder is also an excellent surprise in terms of robustness for daily use. Avoid if possible the 2019-2020 models equipped with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
