The first-generation Genesis GV70 (codename JK1) received a mid-cycle refresh (facelift) introduced in mid-2024 for the 2025 model year. This premium D-segment SUV is positioned as a bold and luxurious alternative to the German leaders (BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5). The facelift brings subtle aesthetic tweaks (double-mesh grille, MLA - Micro Lens Array technology headlights), but it is inside that the evolution is most striking with the integration of a huge 27-inch OLED panel combining instrumentation and infotainment. Mechanically, the Smartstream gasoline engines (2.5T and 3.5T) are carried over with minor adjustments for efficiency, while the 2.2 CRDi diesel engine has been withdrawn from most markets for this facelift. The facelifted Genesis GV70 (2024-2025) confirms its status as a serious and luxurious alternative to German SUVs. The gasoline engines (2.5T and 3.5T) are mechanically very robust, benefiting from the experience of the Hyundai/Kia group. The most rational choice is the 2.5 T-GDi, which offers more than adequate performance while (slightly) limiting fuel consumption compared to the thirsty V6. Mechanical reliability is excellent, but this facelifted model suffers from some early electronic teething issues (new OLED screen) and specific recalls (fuel leak, transmission harness) that must absolutely be checked before purchase. If the recalls have been performed, it is a highly recommendable purchase for its price/performance/luxury ratio.
