Ford Bronco VI (2021 – 2025)

Reliability score : 7.2/10

The sixth-generation Ford Bronco (U725) marks the highly anticipated return of the legendary American 4x4, absent since 1996. Built on a ladder frame chassis (shared with the Ranger), it is positioned as a hardcore off-roader, a direct rival to the Jeep Wrangler. Available in 2- and 4-door versions, it stands out with its removable roof and doors (modular system). While its off-road capabilities and neo-retro design are praised, its debut was marred by numerous assembly quality and teething problems (particularly on the hardtops), penalized by below-average initial reliability scores (J.D. Power, TÜV). The situation improves significantly from the 2023 model years onwards.

🎯 Verdict

The 6th generation Ford Bronco is an enthusiast vehicle, with extraordinary capabilities and undeniable charm. However, its launch was rushed, resulting in poor initial assembly quality and an avalanche of recalls (over 40 recorded by the NHTSA). While the EcoBoost engines are mechanically solid (especially the 2.3L paired with the excellent manual gearbox), the peripherals (roof, electronics, cameras, mountings) require extreme vigilance. Buying advice: Avoid the 2021-2022 model years if possible. Opt for a 2023 or later model, and demand a clear history proving that all recall campaigns have been carried out.
