🎯 Verdict

The Fiat Tipo I (356/357) is an extremely rational and intelligent used car choice. By embracing its position as an 'essential' car, it avoids superfluous and capricious technologies, making it one of the most reliable compacts of its generation. If you're looking for a petrol engine, the 1.4 T-Jet 120 hp is the best compromise for versatility, despite its fuel consumption. For purely urban or suburban use, the modest 1.4 Fire 95 hp is indestructible and very economical to maintain. Post-facelift versions (2020+) with the 1.0 FireFly 100 hp offer better driving pleasure and a more modern presentation (especially in Cross trim), justifying a slightly higher price. Buy with confidence if the service history is clear.
