Fiat Punto Evo (2009 – 2012)

Reliability score : 5.5/10

The Fiat Punto Evo is the deep facelift of the Grande Punto (generation 199). It stands out with a reworked front fascia, LED taillights, and, above all, a significantly improved interior in terms of finish and materials. Mechanically, it introduces the MultiAir petrol engines and updates its MultiJet diesels to meet the Euro 5 standard. Although attractive and economical to buy, its overall reliability is rated below average by inspection agencies (ADAC, TÜV), penalized by electronic weaknesses, fragile running gear, and temperamental emission control systems on diesels in urban use.

🎯 Verdict

The Fiat Punto Evo is a city car full of charm, but it requires caution when buying. If you are looking for a diesel (1.3 MultiJet), vigilance is required: avoid models that have been driven exclusively in the city, scrupulously check the oil change history (for the timing chain) and the condition of the DPF. The 1.6 MultiJet is much more recommendable for high mileage drivers. However, the most rational and reliable choice on this model remains the basic petrol engines (1.2 and 1.4 FIRE), which avoid costly emission control and timing chain problems. Plan a budget for minor electrical issues and running gear wear.
