The DS 7 (named DS 7 Crossback until its 2022 facelift) is the first SUV from the DS Automobiles brand designed completely independently of Citroën. Based on the PSA Group's (now Stellantis) EMP2 platform, it positions itself in the premium compact/family SUV segment (C-SUV). It stands out with an avant-garde design, a highly elaborate light signature, luxurious interior materials (Nappa leather, Clous de Paris guilloché), and high-flying suspension comfort thanks to the DS Active Scan Suspension system. The 2022 facelift modernized the infotainment (DS Iris System) and removed the 1.2 PureTech and 2.0 BlueHDi engines to focus heavily on the plug-in hybrid (E-Tense) powertrains, which represent the core of its sales. Overall, it is a prestigious vehicle, but its reliability heavily depends
The DS 7 is a premium SUV that offers a true alternative to German classicism thanks to its plush comfort and distinctive design. However, purchasing must be extremely selective. The plug-in hybrid (E-Tense) powertrains, which form the core of the offering, are the most recommendable: they offer excellent driving pleasure, provided that all recalls (especially concerning the high-voltage battery and the rear axle) have been scrupulously carried out. For internal combustion, the 2.0 BlueHDi 180 is an excellent choice for high-mileage drivers. In contrast, the 1.2 PureTech and 1.5 BlueHDi versions (before 2023) are to be avoided due to major design flaws (timing belt and chain) that can lead to engine failure.
