DS DS5 I (M32) (2012 – 2015)

Reliability score : 6.2/10

The DS5 (marketed under the name Citroën DS5 during this phase 1) is an atypical premium sedan halfway between a shooting brake and a crossover. Based on the PF2 platform (that of the Peugeot 3008 I), it stands out with its spectacular design and aeronautics-inspired cabin. While the finish quality is a clear step up for the brand, this first generation was heavily criticized for its very firm comfort (jittery suspension) and average rear roominess. The gasoline range is built exclusively around the notorious 1.6 THP block (Prince engine).

🎯 Verdict

The DS5 Phase 1 is a passion-driven car with an assertive design, but it requires compromises on comfort. If you are looking for a gasoline engine, caution is advised: the 1.6 THP 155 is to be avoided due to its congenital flaws (timing, oil consumption). The THP 200 offers better drivability but requires meticulous maintenance. The most rational choice for this heavy model paradoxically remains the 2.0 HDi 160 diesel, coupled with the 6-speed automatic gearbox, which offers remarkable reliability and torque suited to the vehicle's weight.
