The Dacia Sandero II (codename B52) is a B-segment versatile city car that redefined the affordable automotive market. Launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 and facelifted in 2016, it is based on the B0 platform (shared with the Logan II and Duster I). It stands out for its unbeatable price/spaciousness ratio, its proven robustness thanks to the use of amortized Renault mechanical components, and its significantly more modern design than the first generation. The Stepway variant (raised ground clearance, adventurous look) represented the majority of sales in Europe. Although the sound insulation and interior materials betray its low-cost positioning, it offers overall reliability far superior to the average for its category thanks to its simple design. Expert's overall rating: 7.5/10 -
The Dacia Sandero II is a true automotive 'Swiss Army knife'. It doesn't inspire dreams with its dynamic performance or finish, but it excels in its primary mission: transporting its occupants reliably and economically. The mechanicals are generally very sound, with the exception of the 1.0 SCe which requires vigilance and the Easy-R automated gearbox which should be avoided. The expert's choice: A 0.9 TCe 90 version (or 1.0 TCe 100 on the latest model years) in Stepway or Lauréate trim. Original LPG versions are real bargains for reducing fuel costs. The 1.5 dCi diesel is only for those who travel more than 20,000 km per year outside of cities.
