Dacia Duster III (2023 – Présent)

Reliability score : 8.5/10

The Dacia Duster III marks a major turning point for the famous Romanian SUV. Now based on the modern CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan Alliance (shared with the Clio V and Captur), it makes a spectacular leap forward in terms of design, road handling, and onboard technology. No more diesel (BluedCi) in Europe: this third generation focuses entirely on electrified gasoline (Mild-Hybrid 48V and Full Hybrid) and gasoline/LPG bi-fuel. Despite an obvious move upmarket and rising prices, it retains its DNA as an affordable adventurer, notably with a true 4x4 transmission available on the new 1.2 TCe engine. Being a very recent model, long-term reliability data is limited, but it benefits from mechanical components already proven on other Renault group models.

🎯 Verdict

The Dacia Duster III is a highly recommendable purchase. It achieves the feat of radically modernizing without betraying its original philosophy. The abandonment of diesel is compensated by a smart gasoline range. Which engine to choose? - The 1.0 ECO-G 100 remains the absolute best buy for its ridiculously low running cost and proven reliability. - The 1.2 TCe 130 is the choice for versatility, essential if you need 4x4 transmission, although this recent engine still needs to prove itself in the very long term. - The Hybrid 140 is relevant for predominantly urban/peri-urban use, but its higher purchase cost needs to be weighed against LPG.
