The Citroën C5 Aircross I Facelift (mid-life facelift introduced in late 2021/early 2022) modernizes the front fascia of the chevron brand's family SUV, abandoning rounded shapes for more structured lines. Inside, it adopts a new 10-inch touchscreen and a redesigned center console. Its positioning remains focused on absolute comfort thanks to its suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions and its Advanced Comfort seats. It also stands out for its exemplary modularity (3 independent, sliding, and retractable rear seats). Although the chassis is sound, the driving dynamics lag behind a Peugeot 3008. In terms of reliability, this production period is marked by the known weaknesses of Stellantis engines (PureTech and BlueHDi), requiring great vigilance when buying.
The facelifted Citroën C5 Aircross is an excellent family SUV for those who prioritize comfort and modularity. However, buying a 1.5 BlueHDi 130 diesel version requires extreme caution. If the vehicle is prior to February 2023, it is imperative to check if the timing system (camshaft chain) has been modified to the 8 mm kit. Without this proof, the risk of engine failure is too high. The AdBlue system also remains a financial sword of Damocles. If you drive less, avoid the classic 1.2 PureTech 130 and favor the new 1.2 Hybrid 136 version (with chain) introduced in 2023, or the PHEV versions if you can recharge daily.
