Chevrolet Aveo II (T300) (2011 – 2017)

Reliability score : 6.8/10

The second-generation Chevrolet Aveo (T300), also known as the Chevrolet Sonic in North America and Holden Barina in Australasia, marks a complete break from the previous generation. Based on General Motors' Gamma II platform (shared with the Opel Corsa E and Mokka), it offers transformed road handling that is much more rigorous and reassuring. Its bold design, characterized by unfaired round headlights and a motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster, gives it a strong personality. While roominess and trunk volume are good performers in the versatile supermini category, the quality of the interior plastics (hard and prone to scratching) betrays its budget positioning. In Europe, the Aveo's career was abruptly interrupted in late 2014 / early 2015 following General Motors' decision to withdraw

🎯 Verdict

The Chevrolet Aveo II (T300) is a supermini that suffered from the abandonment of its brand in Europe, making it an excellent financial deal today. Its chassis is modern and its equipment is often comprehensive. However, its petrol engines (Ecotec / F16D family) require special vigilance: fluid leaks (water, oil) and PCV valve issues are commonplace. The 1.6 engine (F16D) is particularly one to watch for its head gasket issues and excessive oil consumption. Buy it with full knowledge of the facts, favor a 1.2 or 1.4 model with a clear history, and do not hesitate to negotiate the price firmly by arguing the disappearance of the Chevrolet network.
