The first-generation Chevrolet Aveo (code names T200, then T250 for the facelift/sedan version) is a B-segment versatile city car. Initially launched under the name Daewoo Kalos in 2002, it was rebadged as a Chevrolet in Europe in 2005 following the acquisition of Daewoo by General Motors. Designed as an entry-level, economy-focused vehicle, it was marketed under multiple names worldwide (Pontiac G3, Holden Barina, Suzuki Swift+). While its purchase price was attractive, it suffers from an aging design, very basic finish quality, and catastrophic Euro NCAP crash-test results (1.5 to 3 stars depending on the year). Its mechanical reliability is uneven, marked by chronic weaknesses on the 1.4 and 1.6 engines. Overall design rating: 4/10
