Reliability score : 8.6/10

The BMW X3 G01, introduced in late 2017 and facelifted (LCI - Life Cycle Impulse) in 2021, represents a massive leap forward in both build quality and reliability compared to its predecessor (the F25). 🎯 Verdict

The BMW X3 G01 is a triumph of modern BMW engineering and stands as one of the most reliable vehicles in the premium mid-size SUV segment. By moving away from the problematic N-series engines and adopting the robust B-series architecture, BMW has largely cured the powertrain woes of the past. The petrol variants (20i, 30i, and especially the M40i) are highly recommended and offer a near-perfect blend of performance and reliability. Diesel models remain excellent for high-mileage drivers, provided the EGR recall has been strictly addressed. The only major caveat for buyers is the strict maintenance required for the xDrive transfer case (matching tires) and avoiding early PHEV models unless the battery has been cleared by a dealer. Overall, it is a highly recommended purchase.
