🎯 Verdict

The BMW 5 Series G30/G31 is arguably the most reliable premium executive car of its generation, provided you choose the right engine. BMW's shift to the B-series modular engines paid massive dividends in dependability. The 540i (B58) is the absolute sweet spot, offering sports-car performance with incredible reliability. For high-mileage drivers, the 520d or 530d remain excellent choices, provided the EGR cooler recall has been performed. Buyers should be cautious with early PHEVs and V8 models out of warranty. Overall, a well-maintained G30/G31 is a highly recommended purchase.
