The BMW iX3 (G08 LCI - Life Cycle Impulse) is the 100% electric version of the famous X3 (G01) SUV. The facelift (LCI) introduced in late 2021 for the 2022 model year brought a more aggressive front end (enlarged grille, slimmer headlights), the M Sport package as standard, and a modernized interior with a larger infotainment screen (iDrive 7). Unlike dedicated electric models (such as the iX), the iX3 is based on a multi-energy platform (CLAR). It features the 5th generation of the BMW electric powertrain (eDrive), which has the particularity of using a current-excited synchronous motor, thus completely dispensing with rare earths. Manufactured exclusively in China (Shenyang) by the BMW Brilliance joint venture, it stands out for its excellent energy efficiency and remarkable reliability,
The BMW iX3 (G08 LCI) is an excellent choice on the recent used market. Although it is not based on a dedicated electric platform, BMW has achieved a tour de force in terms of energy efficiency and integration. The 2022 facelift corrected the few early flaws of the infotainment system and modernized its lines. The reliability of the 5th generation eDrive motor is exemplary to date, without the timing chain or EGR valve problems known on ICE X3s. The main point of vigilance concerns the wear of the running gear and tires, inherent to its 2.2-tonne weight. It is a highly recommended purchase for those looking for a premium, comfortable, and reassuring electric SUV, provided they do not have an absolute need for AWD.
