The Audi Q8 e-tron (GE generation) is not an entirely new model, but the deep facelift and renaming of the original Audi e-tron (launched in 2018/2019). Introduced in 2023 to clarify Audi's electric lineup, it is positioned as the brand's flagship electric SUV. This facelift brought crucial improvements: optimized aerodynamics, a new battery chemistry offering higher energy density (up to 114 kWh gross), and revised thermal management. Available in classic and Sportback body styles, it is a heavy vehicle (over 2.5 tonnes) that prioritizes supreme comfort, top-flight soundproofing, and highway stability over pure agility. Note: The Q8 e-tron is exclusively electric (BEV). The combustion and plug-in hybrid versions retain the classic 'Audi Q8' name.
The Audi Q8 e-tron is a mature and highly accomplished evolution of Audi's first electric attempt. By correcting its predecessor's main flaw (range) thanks to larger capacity batteries and better motor efficiency, it becomes an excellent highway cruiser. Its mechanical and electrical reliability is very good, with the asynchronous motors having proven themselves since 2019. The main annoyances stem from its pachydermic weight (which devours tires) and a few persistent software bugs. The 55 e-tron version is the most rational choice to fully enjoy its travel capabilities. Make absolutely sure that the recall on the brake lines has been performed if you are targeting a 2024 model.
