🎯 Verdict

The Audi A5 B8 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an elegant, comfortable, and well-finished coupe, convertible, or Sportback. However, engine choice is crucial for reliability and maintenance budget. For diesels (our focus): * The 2.0 TDI (EA189) are economical and powerful, but pre-facelift versions (before 2011) with Siemens/Continental injectors should be closely monitored. Post-facelift versions are more reliable. An impeccable service history and verification of the Dieselgate recall are imperative. Ideal for high-mileage drivers. * The 2.7 TDI and 3.0 TDI V6 offer superior driving pleasure. The 2.7 TDI is often considered a good reliability/performance compromise. The 3.0 TDI is powerful but the timing chain can be a weak point (rare but very costly). These engines are perfect for long journeys and highway driving. For gasoline engines: * AVOID 1.8/2.0 TFSI (EA888 Gen 2) produced before 2012, unless proof of an engine overhaul (pistons/rings) is provided. Oil consumption and the chain tensioner are ticking time bombs. * The 1.8/2.0 TFSI (EA888 Gen 3) post-2012 are much more reliable and an excellent choice. * The S5 4.2 FSI V8 and RS5 4.2 FSI V8 are enthusiast car
