Audi A4 B8 (8K) (2007 – 2015)

Reliability score : 6.8/10

The Audi A4 B8 (code name 8K) marks a major turning point for the family car with the rings. Based on the new modular MLB platform, it moves its engine further back for better weight distribution, reducing the model's historical understeer. Launched in late 2007 and facelifted in late 2011 (Model Year 2012), it offers an interior finish quality that remains an absolute benchmark. However, this generation is notoriously known for serious reliability issues with its early-production TFSI petrol engines (EA888 Gen 2), tarnishing an otherwise excellent record. The 2012 facelift corrected the vast majority of these early flaws.

🎯 Verdict

The Audi A4 B8 is a car with two faces. If you are looking for a petrol model from before 2012 (1.8 or 2.0 TFSI), run away unless the engine has been completely rebuilt with supporting invoices (segmentation issue). In contrast, facelifted models (from late 2012 / 2013) equipped with 3rd generation TFSI engines are excellent family cars, reliable, powerful, and whose finish withstands the test of time with rare grace. Prioritize a Quattro version with a manual or S tronic gearbox (well-maintained), and avoid the Multitronic gearbox at all costs.
