🎯 Verdict

The Volkswagen Passat B9 is a masterclass in the traditional estate segment. By fixing the ergonomic disasters of the Golf 8/Passat B8 facelift with the new MIB4 system and introducing the sublime DCC Pro suspension, VW has created an ultimate long-distance cruiser. For petrol buyers, the 1.5 eTSI is the absolute sweet spot. It offers more than enough power for daily duties while returning excellent fuel economy thanks to its mild-hybrid system and cylinder deactivation. The 2.0 TSI is reserved for those who truly need the extra power or 4Motion AWD, but it comes with higher running costs. The eHybrid is a technological marvel with its 100 km range, but its complexity makes it a better lease option than a long-term used purchase. Mechanically, the MQB Evo platform and EA211/EA888 engine families are at their peak maturity, making the Passat B9 a highly reliable choice, provided early software bugs are ironed out via updates.
