The pre-facelift models (2016-2020) are beautiful and drive brilliantly, but are severely let down by cheap interior plastics, buggy electronics, and the fragile early Ingenium diesel engines. Buying an early 2.0d without a flawless, documented service history is a massive financial risk. However, the late-2020 facelift transformed the F-PACE. The introduction of the Pivi Pro system, a stunning new interior, and the smoother, more reliable Inline-6 MHEV engines make the post-2020 F-PACE a highly desirable and much safer purchase. If your budget allows, aim exclusively for a 2021+ model, or a petrol variant if you must buy an earlier year.
