For the Diesel Buyer: If you are in Europe and drive more than 20,000 km a year, the 520d or 540d are the absolute best choices in the lineup. BMW has perfected the diesel engine. The B47 (520d) and B57 (540d) are incredibly robust, provided they are allowed to stretch their legs on the highway to keep the DPF and EGR systems clean.
